International Network to Implement EU Physical Activity Guideliness on Infrastructure Development

Aims

The aim of the European Union funded IMPALA.net project is to promote access to and participation in Heath Enhancing Physical Activity (HEPA) through sport.

The main focus of the project is on the implementation of the EU Guidelines for the Improvement of Physical Activity Infrastructures at Local Level, developed in the framework of the predecessor project IMPALA.

These IMPALA guidelines were recognised in 2013 in the recommendations of the Council of the European Union for the cross-sectoral promotion of HEPA and should therefore be implemented in all EU member states.

Strategic aims of IMPALA.net

  • Promotion of the implementation policy of HEPA-related infrastructure development at national level
  • National alliances to develop national action plans to implement IMPALA guidelines
  • Implementation of a summer school for decision-makers

Project progress

Nationale Alliances and National Action Plans

  • Creation of national alliances with decision-makers from politics, practice and research
  • Development of a national action plan for the implementation of the IMPALA guidelines in a cooperative planning process.

Summer school for decision-makers

  • Planning and implementation of a summer school for decision-makers to contribute to capacity building of sports organisations in terms of infrastructure development.

Project coordination

  • Communication between partners and the European Commission
  • Guarantee of timely completion of project tasks
  • Support of the leaders of the work packages

Evaluation

  • Evaluation of the quality of the project work and results of IMPALA.net

Dissemination and public engagement

  • Dissemination of project results
  • Organisation of an international final conference for decision-makers
