Prof. Dr. Klaus Pfeifer holds the chair for Physical Activity and Health at the Department of Sport Science and Sport. Prior to his engagement at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg, he held a professorship of Exercise and Health at the Otto-von-Guericke University in Magdeburg. His research interests include rehabilitation sciences, exercise therapy, physical activity related health promotion, interdisciplinary human movement and training science. Within the MA programme, he teaches classes on rehabilitation science, physical and exercise therapy as well as on the conceptualisation, implementation and evaluation of exercise interventions

Prof. Dr. Anne Kerstin Reimers holds the chair for Sport Science with focus on Health Promotion/Public Health/Social Sciences of Sport at the Department of Sport Science and Sport. Prior to this engagement at the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg she held a junior professorship of Sport and Exercise Pedagogy (with focus on Prevention/ Rehabilitation) at the Technical University in Chemnitz. Her research interests are in the fields of physical activity promotion in different settings, the assessment and population-based monitoring of physical activity, health inequalities and gender-sensitive physical activity promotion with a special focus on children and adolescents. Within the MA programme, she teaches classes on scientific research, the conceptualization, implementation and evaluation of physical activity interventions and monitoring of physical activity.

Karim Abu-Omar, is one of the programme coordinators and a lecturer at the Department of Sport Science and Sport. He has degrees in Medical Sociology and Sport science. His research interests include the development,implementation and scaling of health promotion programs. Also, the impacts of climate change on physical activity promotion. Within the MA programme, he teaches classes on research methodologies, statistics, and public health.

PD Dr. Wolfgang Geidl

Wolfgang Geidl, Ph.D. works as a research assistant at the Department of Sports Science and Sport. He has a Magister Artium in Sport Science with a focus on rehabilitation and prevention, and a PH.D. in Sports Science from the Friedrich-Alexander University Erlangen-Nueremberg (Germany).
His research interests includes exercise therapy (programme development, quality improvement) and physical activity promotion in rehabilitation of peolpe with noncommunicable. Within the MA programme, he teaches classes on rehabilitation, exercise therapy and person-oriented physical activity promotion.

Dr. Sven Messing

Dr. Sven Messing is affiliated with the Department of Sport Science and Sport (WHO Collaborating Centre on Physical Activity and Public Health, Chair of Physical Activity and Health), and a Marie Curie Research Fellow at the University of Limerick. He has an interdisciplinary background, holding a Ph.D. in political science and having 10+ years of experience in the field of physical activity & public health. His research focuses on policies that promote health-enhancing physical activity across political sectors and at all political levels. His other research interests include physical activity promotion in the context of equity, climate change, and human rights.
Dr. Michael Rumpf

Michael Rumpf is employed as a research assistant working on his habilitation at the Department of Sports Science and Sport in the division Sport and Exercise Medicine. He has two Master degrees and a PhD. His first Master degree was in Sport Science with the specialization in prevention and rehabilitation from the Johannes-Gutenberg University at Mainz with the second one kinesiology and physical education from the Northern Illinois University in the USA. He graduated from Auckland University of Technology with his PhD in Strength and Conditioning. His main research focus is on football. Within the MA programme, he teaches Diagnostics in Prevention and Rehabilitation.

Dr. Antonina Tcymbal is a research associate at the WHO Collaborating Centre on Physical Activity and Public Health at the Department of Sport Science and Sport. She holds degrees in psychology and physical activity and health promotion. She has extensive experience in academia and international health organisations, including consulting for the WHO European Office for Prevention and Control of Noncommunicable Diseases. Her research focuses on the development of national physical activity recommendations, cross-country collaboration on health promotion, and monitoring physical activity policies in the EU. Within the MA programme, she teaches classes on physical activity and public health, projects conceptualization, implementation and evaluation, and on intercultural communication.

Eva Lorenz

Eva Lorenz works as a research associate and PhD student at the Department of Sports Science and Sport in the division Physical Activity and Health. She has a Master degree in Physical Activity and Health.
Her research interests include person-oriented physical activity promotion, as well as body awareness and physical activity. Within the Master programme, she teaches practical courses and physical activity diagnostics.
